I haven't been to this board in ages. I am 5 weeks 6 days pregnant and so excited! Haven't told anyone except a few close friends and my oldest daughter (21).

I had my first appointment with the high risk doctor and he asked if I would like to take a walk down the hall for an ultrasound (YES!). We saw the gestational sac and yolk sac which is he said is perfectly normal to see at this stage.

How soon do you tell people you are expecting? I've had four m/c's so I tend to want to wait a bit. If all is well at the next ultrasound next week we will probably tell the kids. The mfm will be calling me to check on my blood sugar numbers and my kids will figure out something is up. Not to mention my resuming the use of insulin.

My daughter and I laughed and laughed when I told her. She stopped over today to see how my appointment went and we remembered that my mil usually tends to be shocked at my pregnancy announcements. This one might well leave her speechless.

I'm so delighted to read your news! This has been such a happy visit to the Message Board after quite a long break, reading your and Christal's messages. Will be praying for you and your little one.

Best wishes
Lynne

What exciting news! Congratulations! I'm praying for you and your new little growing baby. Smile

I never could keep my pregnancies a secret for very long...so usually announced the happy news after a couple of months.

My own little midlife surprise blessing just turned nine --I am so thankful for the Lord's goodness in blessing us with a mid-life baby! Smile

Keep us posted on how you're doing! Praying for a blessed pregnancy and healthy baby and for you to be a healthy mama!

Blessings,
Tamara (mom of seven; grandma to two so far!)

Thanks ladies! I go in for my ultrasound tomorrow. Hopefully all will be well since I have been experiencing morning sickness this time around.

One thing I find hard is reading blogs where the posters act like doctors are evil. So maybe I won't be reading the blogs too much anymore. I've got enough stuff going on that I need to trust my mfm.

Let us know how your ultrasound went! I agree that it helps to filter what you read and focus on positive instead of negative reports. Smile

My ultrasound went well! Morning sickness is lessening, but I'm still extremely tired. PTL for older kids who can help watch the youngest one. Smile

My insulin has been bumped up, so yay I'll get to eat side dishes in addition to turkey and dessert on Easter Sunday (would have had to completely avoid it to stay under 200).

Still debating on when to tell more people at church and my parents.

Thanks for letting us know about your ultrasound. So pleased everything is going well, morning sickness easing (and you were able to enjoy your Easter lunch!) Sounds as though you're coping amazingly - just keep looking after yourself Smile

There's no rush about telling everyone - they'll find out or work it out eventually - I'd say just trust your own judgement about with whom and when you want to share your news - and for the moment, if you don't feel ready, just enjoy that lovely feeling of the secret life growing inside you.

I'm sure when they finally hear your news, your friends and family will be delighted (once they've got over the surprise (;
)

Love
Lynne
