Would you consider giving birth at a teaching hospital? There is one nearby that has the best trauma unit, etc. I haven't heard a lot on their reputation as far as L&D goes, but I have also heard that I would have to fight tooth and nail about VBAC - again, not sure how much is true. There's one doctor (part of a practice) that is not pro-VBAC, but is considered the one to go to of the group if I'm wanting to try. Feedback on a local board dismisses the hospital altogether simply because it is a teaching hospital.

Peace

I am praying for you to have wisdom about where to have your baby and which doctor, etc., Jamie!

*I* wouldn't want to go to a teaching hospital for a birth, but then, that's just me. Smile

Blessings,

What about teaching hospitals turns you off, Tamara? The "newbie" factor was turning me off a bit, but someone told me that I wouldn't have to consent to that. Not sure if they
were accurate or not.

There is one doctor that works out of the teaching hospital that is semi-pro VBAC. (Meaning, he's been known to support it, but there are people who say he's not really the one doing the delivery if you go that route, and then you're up to the mercy of whomever is in the hospital at the time).

Peace

That's the main thing...and while I'm not sure how it would work, I just pictured all these people involved in my birth and watching the entire procedure and that wouldn't appeal to me AT ALL! So, don't go at all on my opinion about it. I may not know what I'm talking about. Wink

I am most definitely praying for you to have the wisdom of the Lord in all of this though! If they allowed VBAC, and I were in your shoes, I'd probably go for it...but it sounds like you might be at their mercy and not be able to select who was with you for the birth.
